Tomorrow (aka Thursday) I am ostensibly working from 9am to 5pm -- I say ostensibly since we are ridiculously efficient enough and business is slow enough that 5pm shifts actually end somewhere between 4pm and 4:30pm -- after which I will walk home, take a twenty-minute nap, and then drive down to my parents' home in New Jersey. (Whereupon I will do laundry, because if free laundry is an option, one should always take advantage. It is a Rule.)

Friday I will do breakfast with Susan, after which I will once again pick up and sort my parents' mail. I will also pick up some stuff my mom lent to her church -- sleeping bags and such-like for some international guests, I think? -- which I have permission to dump more or less wherever I want. I think I will be nice and not leave it strewn all over the staircase. *grin*

And then I will drive back up to Ithaca, hopefully leaving early enough that I don't get trapped in rush hour traffic in the Delaware Water Gap. Of course, that still means I will probably get trapped in rush hour traffic around either Stroudsburg or Scranton, but eh, you can't win 'em all. Even if I leave super-early, that would only result in hitting rush hour traffic around Binghamton, and considering the road work on US-17 and I-81, that would be the worst option of all.

...

As my dad likes to joke, there are only two real seasons: winter and roadwork. *sigh*

As Pamela Dean put it: "snow removal and road repair. Or was it road removal and snow repair?".
