Susan and I had a good visit with Cat's parents yesterday -- we each brought a tray of cookies as gifts from our respective families, and we ended up invited in for tea and random dessert breads. I like Mr. and Mrs. M just in general, regardless of their relation to Cat. I mean, I've known them since I was six years old too, and particularly during junior high I spent pretty much every school day afternoon at their place, since Cat and I both walked home and her house was on the way to mine. (We carpooled in the mornings.)

Anyway, I do have news on Cat and her situation (not to mention her temporary address), but it's kind of personal so I think I won't share it, even here under my fandom identity.

Moving on! On Christmas Eve Vicky made paella for dinner, which was delicious and also created a LOT of leftovers... to the point where we are having paella for dinner again tonight. :-) Last night was filet mignon, which has kind of become a Christmas tradition, inasmuch as my family has any firm Christmas food traditions beyond pancakes for breakfast before opening presents on Christmas morning.

Today I baked cookies, with generous help from Mom, since I wanted to bring a bunch home to Ithaca as gifts for my coworkers. We made good cookies (which I swear to god is their actual name; they're basically sugar cookies with less sugar and some cream of tartar to improve the flavor and make them fluffier) and chocolate chip cookies, since good cookies are my favorites and it's difficult to go wrong with chocolate chip.

This afternoon I got my fiction directory posts up to date, which is a task I tend to do in batches rather than every time I post something new. I have also been reading through Yuletide fics very much at random, which is a bit like picking random items out of a chocolate box -- mentally delicious. Tonight I will wash another load of laundry, and tomorrow morning Mom and I hit the road by 8am, so I can be at the smoke shop by 1pm to work a closing shift.

It's a short Christmas, but I have enjoyed it very much. :-)
