In random unexpected news: Landlord Dude called me around 4:30pm today to ask if he could come over Wednesday morning to fix my leaky bathtub/shower faucet. Which has been leaking for well over a year, and which I first asked him to repair at least six months ago.

I don't care that he wants to come at 9:30am and I hate mornings. That leak has led to a constant war of Liz-versus-encroaching-mildew and I would put up with many greater inconveniences to finally make the drip go away.

...

Yeah, I'm gonna go do some more housecleaning now, so I look like a moderately responsible tenant.

Yay! At least he's coming to finally fix it. Most landlords (or their management companies) take forever to come do repairs and seem to only do it when disaster strikes and they can't put it off any longer.

Yeah. Like, Landlord Dude has had legitimate health problems over the past year or so, but he could have hired a plumber for my faucet, or an electrician to install the back door light that Downstairs Neighbor S has been requesting for over a year now, or a lawn care company to trim the trees and hedges he's been cited for letting get overgrown. (The only reason he hasn't been cited MORE is that I trim the greenery now and then when it starts to annoy me. I dislike getting dripped on by rain-weighted leaves.)

Anyway, I'm not sure what tipped him into deciding that NOW is the time for maintenance... but if it ends with a non-leaky faucet, I don't particularly care. :-)

I don't care that I live in... well, not squalor. Organized mess, perhaps? But I prefer to look slightly more clean and tidy in front of other people. :-)
