Your library files comics and manga in the teen/YA section? Interesting! Mine files them all in nonfiction, call number 741.5. I am not entirely sure why that pattern got started -- perhaps it's related to art books? -- but it does mean they have some wildly not-for-kids stuff in the collection... and those books are, of course, mixed in with the kid-friendly stuff with no way to tell which is which unless you already know, because the alphabet does not distinguish along that axis. *headdesk*
It's kind of a toss-up whether things are alphabetized by title or by creator's name. The trend is toward manga and indie stuff filed by author, and Marvel and DC stuff filed by title, but that's not a hard and fast rule so the catalog is your best bet for finding anything specific. Also, many of those books circulate A LOT, so hold requests are your friends. :D
