Our collection of comics and manga is very tiny (rather like our teen room, LOL) but that issue with kids stuff/very NOT kids stuff is exactly why we have it in YA. Like you said, a lot of libraries will file it at 741.5, and we used to do the same, but when we created a teen room, and started collecting graphic novels, we decided that we would put them in there. We really don't have anything that's very adult, and not a lot that's very juvenile, so it made sense for us, and the teen room is open to all ages.

And yes, you're right about the reason for the comics & graphic novels being at 741.5 because of the art books - that got started before comics and graphic novels were really popular. Our library is a bit different, we have them all in a collection and we categorize them as fiction.
