Death to Earned Income Credit due diligence reports. DEATH I SAY. Also who-claims-the-dependent tiebreaker rules are a pain in the neck.

But I think I did the two case studies correctly, up to and including the stupid fiddly NYC adjustments on one of the state returns, and I still get that little 'ha, take that, I WIN,' thrill when I reach the end of a return, so whatever, it's all good. My big worry in taking this course was that the 'I beat you' thrill wouldn't transfer from my own returns to other people's returns, but it's still the same puzzle game it always was, just with new and interesting complications. *grin*

The thrill of victory strikes me as just about the ideal way to deal with tax forms and laws in general. I feel like it should be accompanied by flashy lights and costume changes, and possibly an appearance in Yu-Gi-Oh.

The tax code is certainly set up to provide a lot of obstacles! And yes, there should absolutely be flashy lights and a little victory fanfare or something when you successfully finish a return. :-)
