I came home tonight to a notice on the central staircase of my house (presumably having fallen off the front doorknob) saying the city will be shutting off our water from 8am to noon on Wednesday 3/2/16. Which is tomorrow.

That is VERY SHORT NOTICE. I am just saying.

Fortunately I will be leaving at 8am exactly in order to catch a bus tomorrow morning, so I ought to be able to shower and brush my teeth before the shut-off... except I remember one time when the city said they were going to shut off the smoke shop's water main at 8am, and then actually shut it off about five past 7am. Which is not the same thing AT ALL.

...

I think perhaps I should get up a little earlier tomorrow, even though I am working an eleven-hour day (plus at least an hour of transportation time). I will regret having no shower a lot more than I will regret half an hour of lost sleep.
