It's time for another [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree ficlet, folks! This one was just fun to write.

Theme: #14 - Forbidden
Warnings: crack AU
Summary: In which Draco is a vampire, Ginny is a member of a mystical order of vampire hunters, and Harry just wants a normal life and for these strange people to get out of his bedroom, thanks.

( Xenophilia )

...

I wanted to mock those "He's a vampire and I'm a vampire hunter, his clan killed my family, I'm sworn to kill him, and what is this devilish yet sensual pull I feel toward him...? -- oh no!" romances more, but alas, this is not James and Lily's story, and Harry refused to ask the relevant questions. Possibly I can fix this in the collected version.

---------------------------------------------

In other news, I have three days off in a row, starting tomorrow!

Of course, GS is sick and left work early today (stomach problems, which had him vomiting after lunch), so I may get called in to cover somebody's shift... but IN THEORY, I have some of that semi-mythic thing called 'free time.' I plan to enjoy it. *resolve face*

As part of my resolve to finish "Fixation, and Other Stories" by the end of October, here is another [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree ficlet!

Theme: #25 - Looking
Warnings: none, unless Rita Skeeter needs her own warning. *evil grin*

( Tabloid )

---------------------------------------------

This makes 23 posted, I believe.

Last night I wrote the 28th ficlet, called "Quietus," which is a very dark future. It is also, oddly enough, narrated by Remus Lupin. Yes, the same Remus Lupin whom I have never before managed to work into a story in more than a couple throwaway lines for verisimilitude and local color. I don't think the 'voice' sounds all that much like Remus, but the story demanded a particular tone, and partway through the second section, I realized that my narrator A) was a person involved in the story, not a sort of hovering omniscient observer, and B) was Remus, had to be Remus, for various plot and character reasons.

Then, of course, I had to go look up tables of full moons in 2001, but that's a small bit of research and easily done.

You know the best part, though? I now have at least one fanfiction title for every letter of the alphabet. I am torn between amusement at the accomplishment, and mild despair over the fact that I cared enough to make that happen.

(I'm not really obsessive-compulsive. I just look like I am.)

Last night, between 3 and 4am, I wrote the twenty-seventh piece of "Fixation, and Other Stories" for [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree. This one is another utterly cracked AU, in which Draco is a vampire, Ginny is a member of a mystical order of vampire hunters, and Harry just wants a normal life, thanks, and for these weird people to get out of his bedroom.

Also, I have PLANS for my remaining three themes. I begin to think maybe there is hope of finishing "Fixation" before the end of October!

Then, of course, I get to muck around with various organizational schemes -- I seem to have ended up with a sort of 'main sequence' continuity, and then several sets of thematically related fics (3 crack AUs, 3 scene-shift AUs, 3 depressing drabbles from Ginny's POV, 3 alternate get-togethers, 3 dystopian futures, and 3 rondos/by-the-numbers character studies) -- and hopefully get somebody to look them over, because I'm sure they need editing even though I've already posted most of them.

What I have left to write is one dystopian future, one alternate get-together, and the final main sequence fic. (Not chronologically final. Just the last to write. Unless... *wards off plot bunnies* No. I may add a 'tag' ficlet after the requisite 30, but that's a separate issue.)

-----------------------------------

In semi-related news, I've joined NaNoWriMo again this year. Except I'm cheating. Instead of writing a new novel, what I plan to do is simply write 50,000 words. Of anything. As long as I write an average of 1,500-2,000 words per day in November, I will count the month a grand success.

At the very least, that ought to get me a couple finished one-shots and some completed chapters of my too many WIPs!

It's another [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree ficlet! Only this one isn't really a fic-let, considering it's over 7,000 words long. *bites fingernails* Um. Anyway, it's the third of my scene-shift AUs -- like "Ripples in a Pool" and "The Rules of the Game" -- in which I judiciously kick canon in the knees at a couple points and watch what happens.

I'm particularly fond of this one, even if it does crib rather heavily from PS/SS, and I still have occasional frothing fits of frustration while trying to write from Harry's POV. The two changes are ones that I've seen handled very badly in a lot of stories, and it was fun trying to make them happen more smoothly, logically, and in-character.

So. Without further ado:

Theme: #6 - If only
Warnings: LONG!
Note: The idea for this story struck me just after midnight one day back in January, whereupon I went home and wrote it down in about three hours. It involves two slight changes to first meetings in PS/SS, and spirals outward from there, with fascinating effects on the entire HP universe. Significant portions of this story are copied or paraphrased from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

( More Subtle Than Any Beast of the Field )

---------------------------------------------

Further Notes -- go read the story first )

It's time for another [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree ficlet!

Theme: #8 - Babies
Warnings: mild cursing
Note: This is a first-person Ron POV. I have trouble writing Ron, so I don't know how accurate his 'voice' is, but that's how the story wanted to go. Besides, I'd done a Hermione POV on the threesome -- "Vision (Quantum State Collapse)" -- so it seemed only fair to give Ron a shot as well.

( Truce )

---------------------------------------------

In other news, chapter 11 of "Secrets" is now at 2,700 words in rough draft, which ought to be at least 1/4 of the total chapter length. Go me!

babbling about the story )

Mostly I'm just happy that my baby is talking to me again. I was worried for a while, especially since I'm trying to keep so many WIPs in the air right now, but they're all alive and well, so I am quite cheerful at the moment. *smiles at the world*

I am exceedingly peeved at computers right now. See, there is apparently something wrong with the disk I usually use to transfer stories back and forth from home to various computer labs. It keeps crashing MS Word at the lab, though it works just FINE at home. So I copied a bunch of files onto a second disk.

This one has a chronic path error; the lab computers simply fail to read any of its files.

*headdesk*

I will try again tomorrow with yet another disk, because I've written a new [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree ficlet (a Ron monologue, of all things -- don't look at me like that, I swear it makes sense in context!) and I want to upload it onto the locked lj entry where I keep these things so I can post them whenever I feel like it.

...

Anyway, here, have a much older Ginny/Harry/Draco [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree ficlet. This one is for theme #30 - touch. No warnings.
