And now to bed, because while I am recovering nicely (I was able to drink Coca-Cola again today! my lovely caffeinated nectar of tooth-rotting goodness! never leave me), I don't want to push too hard too fast and have a relapse. Also my parents are making a flash-visit tomorrow, which is basically a car handoff lightly disguised by the pretense of a lunch date between me and my mom. I will have the car until Thanksgiving, because it's logistically easier for me to drive myself down than for someone to pick me up and my mom is leery of depending on rentals around Thanksgiving. *rolls eyes*

I spent much of today unable to use my computer -- first because I'd scheduled a boot scan, then because of a completely inexplicable ten minute power outage, and then because I had to run the boot scan again -- so I did a bunch of useful chores I'd been putting off. Which basically means I took apart my box fan and cleaned it, cleaned the top of the closet where I store the fan during the winter (said closet is sort of a built-in wardrobe that occupies a corner of my bedroom; the top is so high up I had to stand on a footstool on my dresser to reach the back corners), vacuumed the whole apartment, and dusted a bunch of shelves. Also I went grocery shopping, which takes even longer on weekdays than weekends due to slightly variant bus schedules. *sigh*

My mom is currently down in DC helping Aunt Jan take reams of files and things out of cardboard boxes and put them into other storage materials, since Aunt Jan is apparently now allergic to cardboard on top of her numerous other allergies and therefore shouldn't be doing that herself despite needing it to be done. This leaves my dad home alone, still without power. As of this evening, Main St. (NJ 124) had electricity, plus a bunch of the town north of Main St. Almost nothing south of Main St. had power, though, and my parents live on the extreme south edge of town, about two blocks from where Madison runs into Chatham Township. But almost all of the downed trees have been removed, so hopefully fixing the broken wires shouldn't take more than another day or so.

Chapter 6 of "Trollstuck" is now up on AO3, complete with a second illustration and a whole bunch of minor edits.

Next up, Vriska Serket!

(But really, next up is six hours of sleep. It is way too late for me to still be up, and Monday is not one of my days off.)

And now onward to chapter 7, aka Vriska and the climax of this plot arc! (Though not the climax of the story itself, obviously -- there would have been no point whatsoever to chapters 2 and 3 in that case.) Hmm. So.

I would like to add another illustration to this chapter, beyond Jothan's character portrait. What would you like to see? (And no, I am not doing another comic. Single images only!)

Also, where should we join Vriska? Do you want to see her conversation with Jothan from her POV, or shall we pick up directly after that? And who would you like to see talk to her over the course of the chapter?

And now to bed, since I have to be at work at 9am tomorrow. Bleh, mornings.

In non-writing news, I got an unexpected phone call this morning from Frau Martin, who was my host mother when I spent a month in Nürnberg in high school. I was just about to leave for work, so I asked her to call me back later... but I think I may have accidentally told her to call me at 7am tomorrow morning instead of 7pm tonight, since it is now 9:30pm and my phone has not rung.

Oops.

And now to bed, since my parents will arrive around 10am and I would like to not fall asleep over breakfast. :-)

And now to sleep, which I should have done two hours ago. *sigh* My priorities are frequently not the wisest from a health and functionality-at-work perspective.

The final version of Trollstuck, chapter 5, complete with illustration, is now up on AO3! It would have been up a couple days ago but I have had a shitty week -- we are ridiculously short-staffed at the smoke shop since both RE and PB left, and PM still hasn't so much as called any of the job applicants in for an interview because aside from one guy who was kind of ehhh, they have uniformly sucked -- and fighting MS Paint to get any sort of usable result is, shall we say, a challenge.

I really need a better art program. (Speaking of which, anyone have any advice on that front? Cheap and simple is best, since I will not be using it as a regular thing once I'm done with this story. Or failing special programs, even advice on a stylus and pad or whatever would be nice because half the trouble I have with MS Paint is that a mouse is really not anything like a pencil. (The other half is pixel compression issues. God, why can't a black line and a white background stay a black line and a white background? Why must they blur and fragment into scraggy grays every time I save or open a file?? WHY???))

Anyway, I'll probably start chapter 6 on Sunday, once I know whose POV I'll be writing. :-)
