headaches and film class
Dec. 3rd, 2003 07:16 pmI seem to be addicted to caffeine, in the form of Coca-Cola. At any rate, I get headaches in the late afternoon if I haven't had a Coke sometime between 10 and 3. I am fighting one off as I write.
Between history and English lit, I spent 45 minutes closely tracking Chaplin's speech as Hynkel at the beginning of The Great Dictator, which is a marvelous piece of comedy -- watch it sometime. Then, after a brief lunch, I took Ophuls's Hotel Terminus from reserve in Uris Library and watched it as review for my film final tomorrow. I forgot how LONG it is! Four hours of sitting two feet from a tiny TV screen wearing headphones, in a chilly room with a concrete floor. I think even without the caffeine addiction, I'd have a headache!
I am going to do the best I can to finish my paper tonight, but I'm going to ask for an extension tomorrow. There's no way it's going to be very good by tomorrow morning. And I desperately want to do something else anyhow, like write fiction.
Still, I think I'm pretty well prepared for the final. Prof. B is showing us a 15 minute clip of one of the six films we've watched since the midterm. I admit to not seeing Mr. Klein, but I've seen the other five and Mr. Klein was the one we saw most recently, so I think I'll be okay.
Also, in good news, the Milton paper has been shortened from 7 pages to 3-4 pages! Thanks, Prof. G!
