forgive me; it's the weather

My computer hates me. So does the internet.
First off, my mouse keeps dying. That is to say, the little cursor-arrow will just freeze on the screen and leave me with only my keyboard to navigate, until such time as I restart my computer.
Second, my screen will just freeze for no apparent reason. More restarting.
Third, my internet connection is extremely spotty. Fortunately, I think this is an area network problem rather than something in my computer, since it's affecting other people in my house, including those who don't share my cable modem thingy. Unfortunately, that means there's nothing I can do to fix it.
Fourth, livejournal keeps losing my login cookie, so I have to log in each time I want to post a comment. Then the internet connection will go wonky or my screen will freeze. I have given up on posting comments for the moment.
And fifth -- not that this has anything to do with technology -- the weather is still stinking hot and humid. Plus we had thunderstorms this afternoon without getting those huge anvil thunderheads, or the sense of building tension before the lightning slashes across the sky. Just uniform gray haze.
*wails*
At least I seem to have gotten over my insomnia. (Eleven hours of sleep last night, baby!) Unfortunately, due to humidity, am now running solely on caffeine. Otherwise I'd just wilt across my bed and dream of air conditioning.
I should be writing, but I cannot think in this weather. I should be packing or doing laundry, but that would require moving. I cannot function like this.
I am NEVER, EVER moving anywhere even vaguely close to the tropics. Even Virginia would be pushing it. Summer is EVIL.
