Chapter 7 of "Apartment Manager" is up at ff.net.
And yes, ff.net is a stinky site in many, many ways, but it's unfortunately the only place I can go to find large collections of stories for many fandoms all in one place. And I like to follow the favorite stories and favorite authors links. (Which, come to think of it, is probably why I keep falling into new fandoms, but we won't go there at the moment.) I tend to think of it as a necessary... not evil, exactly, but definitely a nuisance.
In any case, chapter 7 is up as of this evening. It's mostly the same as before, although I switched the nationality of the assassin from Grass to Sand, and added a bit more information to Naga's backstory on Orochimaru and her clan. (Mostly because I had the information lying around in my story notes, and I think it's an interesting theory, but I couldn't figure out a good way to make her talk about it before.)
----------------------------
Totally random observation:
The north end of Olin library has a gravelled area on top of the first floor, with a walkway of raised paving stones. If you throw gravel onto the stones, it makes musical 'thunking' noises, and the university has signs up asking people to please not do that.
When it rains, water evaporates off the stones from the center of each square outward, leaving darker lines of wet stone near the joints and seams; these lines are narrowest toward the corners and inch inward along the center of each side, making slightly curved outlines.
It reminds me of middle eastern rugs.
I wonder... if I knew the rights words, could I make the whole walkway ripple and flex and soar into the air like a massive flying carpet?
