I seem, several weeks back, to have subconsciously decided not to read any new Naruto manga chapters until I'd finished writing "Tides," so as to keep it locked into my knowledge as of chapter two-fifty-something (the one that ends with Akatsuki in that cave hideout, having just summoned the strange statue with the upraised hands).
Well, I finished part 9, "Wings," last night. And I had way too much fun playing around with the theoretical mechanics of Orochimaru's curse seals... I think I was mostly avoiding the manga in case Kishimoto went and spoiled my pet theories and such-like.
Anyway, that should be up this evening; I'd post it now but my work computer doesn't have a floppy drive.
"Wings" doesn't answer anything about their confrontation with Itachi, but it finishes the reacclimatization and team rebuilding started in "Tension, Before," so I declare the story as a whole to be complete. Someday I may write a sequel, but as I have no real ideas for plot specifics, I doubt that'll happen any time soon.
Instead, I shall go back to concentrating on my Harry Potter stories. (I kind of choked on "Secrets" because the Ginny-Tom conversation is the emotional crux of the novel, and I'm irrationally terrified of getting it wrong, but I finally started writing it Monday evening and I think I've reached the stage where I'm ready to just let whatever happens, happen. I can always go back and edit it afterward.)
