wherein Liz rambles about umbrellas
Aug. 31st, 2005 07:36 pmHave had two days of solid rain, probably courtesy of Katrina pushing weather systems around the Midwest. This is good for the plants in Ithaca (especially after one of the 5 hottest and driest summers on record), but not so good for me.
See, I set my umbrella down in a computer lab on Monday evening, and by the time I left, somebody had stolen it. So I was trapped indoors yesterday. Today I braved the weather during a period of medium-light rain, and managed to get a hold-mail form from the post office, return two library books, and buy a new umbrella. This one isn't as cool as my old one (which was only 3 months old, damnit!), but then, navy blue is inherently not as Zen as light silvery-lavender. The old one reminded me of mist. This one is just sober and businesslike.
And I still miss my old old umbrella, which was blue with a sort of purple-blue-green plaid band around the outer edge, lasted for 10 years, and cost me all of $5.00 when I bought it in Rome. *sigh* Now that was a good umbrella.
I think I can get the Giles/Indy story finished tonight and posted tomorrow. We shall see.
