Ginevra Weasley???
May. 15th, 2004 07:40 pmHonestly, Ginevra? Argh.
Right. I will go change my stories at some point, but not just now. Am too busy beating my head against a wall.
...
Really, Ginevra? What was she thinking???
-----------------------------------
My local network connection is down, so I may not be online for a good while. *sob* Am posting from a library computer with a nasty keyboard (the shift key is practically jammed) and no privacy whatsoever. I hate the feeling that someone might be reading over my shoulder.
Also, while the weather has cooled, it's still raining. We had yet another thunderstorm this afternoon.
-----------------------------------
Ginevra???
This is really going to play hell with Secrets. I have a running thing where Tom calls her Virginia instead of Ginny, and now I'm going to have to change all of that to Ginevra.
Which I do not like nearly as much as Virginia. Also, it lacks certain connotations.
But needs must.
Ginevra it is.

Date: 2004-05-17 02:25 pm (UTC)Repeat to Self: "You do not ship H/G even though you write it, you don't ship H/G even though you write it, you don't ship H/G even though you write it... so stop thinking about interesting thematic links! You are not going to write anything at all serious with that pairing, ever!"
Argh.

Date: 2004-05-17 04:53 pm (UTC)It's a long story. See, I started reading fanfiction by way of some H/Hr stories, and after a while I decided to try some other pairings to see if I really had a pairing preference or if I was just being lazy. This led to me reading some really awful, inbred H/G things and saying, "That is NOT the way teenagers act! Particularly not girls with long-term crushes. I could write better than that."
And so I wrote a story in which Ginny finally worked up the nerve to ask Harry out. And then Ginny wandered into my mind long-term, and I started writing Secrets, and after a while I decided to write what happened on that date. It's not what I'd call great romance, just a little peek into the head of a girl with an unrequited crush who finally gets a chance to do something about it.
But if I actually ship anything -- and it's a very understated shipping, in the "it would be nice if" sense rather than "this is the OTP!!" -- it's H/Hr, H/D, and H/R/Hr. With a tiny bit of Snarry on the side. And I keep an open mind toward most other pairings, so I don't mind H/G in theory. I just really, really dislike a lot of the ways it's been put into practice.
