edenfallingAt about 2pm, a drunk man wandered into the store, leaned over the counter to tell me and MS that "she" would know better than to wake him this early (!) again, and then took nearly a minute to explain that he wanted to buy a cigar. Then it took another minute for M. to explain to him how to get into the tobacco section -- he persistently didn't listen to or understand what anyone said to him.
He picked a cigar, which happened not to have a price tag on it. He couldn't say how much it cost, just "a dollar something," so I went back to price it. He didn't understand what M. and I were doing and got belligerent. I told M. the price and handed him the cigar, but he'd decided he didn't want to buy it anymore and started telling us we were stupid and useless.
He made a motion toward his pocket, and MS thought he was shoplifting the cigar. She told him to come back and pay for it, at which point he exploded. He said we both needed to be spanked. I told MS he'd left the cigar on top of the candle display -- and held it up -- and tried again to explain that we'd only been trying to get the price so we could sell it to him.
He yelled some more, at which point MS told him to leave or she'd call the cops. After another minute or so, while she was looking through the phone book, he finally left. He wandered up and down in front of the store for another minute, and then walked away.
I don't know where he went. Fortunately, he didn't come back. But MS wrote the cops' number on a scrap of paper and I taped it up for easy access if he returned.

Will be offline until sometime Monday. Stupid underfunded public library not being open on Sundays anymore. Stupid local university closing computer labs for spring break. *grumble*
Tonight is ET's goodbye party, since he leaves for Navy basic training in about a week and a half. He was a good coworker, and kind of cute as well. I will miss him.
