1. Mom and Dad arrived at 11:30 yesterday. We did a picnic lunch out at Six Mile Creek vineyard, and then hiked up the trail in Cascadilla Gorge. After that, we hit the Friends of the Library fall booksale, where I bought several things that I probably shouldn't have (for budget reasons; I need a better-paying job!) and then had dinner in my apartment.
It was good to see them.
2. Writing progress report, mini version: "Secrets" ch. 11 is at 2,900 words, "Guardian" ch. 9 is at 325 words, "Undertow" is at 3,175 words, "Beauty" is at 8,050 words (must finish by Thanksgiving, so I can print it out and give it to Dad and Vicky!), and I wrote another "Fixation" ficlet for
thirtyforthree, called "Pressure." I have also finally figured out the overall structure for "Fixation, and Other Stories," and know what I am going to write for the 5 remaining themes; with a bit of luck, I'll have those done, edited, and posted by the end of the year. (I hope to have them done by the end of October, but I know all too well how distractible I am.)
3. It was fall break at Cornell this weekend, which I'd somehow completely managed to miss until they closed the computer lab on me way earlier than I expected. *shrug* This is the problem with relying on other people for internet access; I'm not always the master of my own schedule.
