1. I am having a week of paid insanity.

I'm a part-time worker. In practice, this means I work 20-30 hours per week -- the closer to 30, the more my budget likes me. This week, I'm working 38 hours. (It's officially 37, but there's always slop time at closing, so it will end up being 38 to 38.5.) If JH weren't available for me to dump tomorrow's shift onto, I'd be working 42.5 official hours, which would be something like 44 in reality. Also, I would get in trouble (even though I'd be keeping the store open, my god) because part-time workers are not supposed to work full-time hours.

Argh.

See, what happened is that the other store branch (in a mall in the middle of nowhere between Elmira and Corning) is having staff problems, so PM (the manager) has been shuffling people around so she and GS can cover some of those shifts. Which landed me with about 32 hours. Then GS got sick yesterday, so I went in early and covered half his shift -- hey presto, 37. Today, DB is sick, which means I worked 7:30am-noon, and will go back in at 4pm and work until I close the store at 9pm.

Thank god JH is back from his fall break tomorrow evening, is all I have to say. If I get my shifts changed on me one more time...

2. I got the weirdest haircut of my life just an hour ago. I went into this cheap place and asked to have 3 inches taken off (this is because I hadn't gotten my hair cut for about 18 months and the split ends were getting kind of scary). He made me stand up, spritzed my hair with a spray bottle, and trimmed it in about 10 minutes total. For this I paid $14 plus tip???

I swear, next time I'm trying the place upstairs from Center Ithaca food court.

3. I have finished chapter 7 of "Lemonade" in rough draft, but Duo's section wants some edits, so I will not post it until tomorrow. I also wrote the 29th piece of "Fixation, and Other Stories" last night (which I should not have done, since I got home at 9:45pm after closing the store, had to make dinner, and then get enough sleep to get up at 6:30am today, and in retrospect I should've slept instead of writing), so I have one themed ficlet and one 'tag' ficlet left before I can go on a posting spree and also organize them and haul out the Editing Pen of Death.

It occurs to me that I haven't done that for a while. See, I edit my Naruto fanfiction on the computer screen for the most part, but I like to print out the longer Harry Potter stories (and original stories, of course) because it's easier to notice the really stupid mistakes when they're in permanent ink on paper. Also, I just like mucking around with red pens. :-)

4. I bought new sneakers this summer, because my old sneakers had a leak in the sole. Not half a year later, my new sneakers have also developed a hole in the sole! Granted, they were really cheap sneakers from Payless Shoes, but still. I am PEEVED.

5. It was MS's 21st birthday on Tuesday. I was supposed to meet her and some of her friends to go drinking, after I closed the store, but I seem to have mistyped her number when I entered it into my phone, so I couldn't get hold of her or find out where they were. So I went home.

:-(

On the bright side, I did save myself the cost of a few drinks.
