wherein Liz gripes about her job

Mwahahahaha, I bought a Christmas card for the Martins and will write a note in it tonight, and then all my holiday cards will be DONE! And ready to be MAILED! Which will happen on Friday, because mailing Xmas cards before December is really just pushing things a little... but I wanted to get them done early because I always forget about things like that when I postpone them to a more rational time.
---------------
GS is having some sort of life crisis, so I've lost my day off on Friday and will now be working 12-9pm three days in a row, followed by 3:30/4-9pm for two more days. I think, by Tuesday, I will be about ready to murder people with thumbtacks.
The funny thing about small store retail is that the aggravation builds up a lot faster than in any other job I've held (with the single exception of teaching, and that paid better). So I can work part-time hours and still think I've spent WAY too much time at the store. Part of it's being on my feet all day, part of it's the customers, and part of it's just the way you never really get time to rest after you get anything major done, because look! another order just arrived, or the cappuccino machine jammed again, or the latest vaccuum cleaner bit the dust, and so on.
Ah well. It's a living.
...And I actually don't mind my job half as much as I probably sound like I do. I just like venting; it helps keep me sane. :-)

In other news, chapter 11 of "Secrets" is now at 7,350 words. The minimum goal is 9,000, and the maximum is 12,000. So go me!
