edenfallingAh, New Year's Eve. Which I have off from work. :-)
I am in the long, slow recovery phase of illness -- I hate, loathe, and despise the way colds linger -- and was feeling well enough these last two nights to get some writing done. I finished another ficlet for "The Transient and the Eternal," added a couple hundred words to "An Ounce of Prevention," fiddled with "The Bird Woman of Shajento" (an old original story), and hashed out the thematic point of the next chapter of "Lemonade," though I didn't actually sit down and start resorting the actual scenes to keep Faith's POV and life story from running way over their allotted length.
Also, I've been reading The Perfect Heresy, a book about the Albigensian Crusade and the Cathar heresy of medieval Languedoc, which is absolutely fascinating. Medieval Europe was far from the static pastoral tapestry image most people seem to see it as.

I feel that I need a good New Year's resolution, but am at something of a loss to produce one, not being in nearly such dire straits as I was at the end of, say, 2005. Hmm.
...
1) I resolve that I will straighten out my various college transcripts, work out where I stand by way of transferable credits, and figure out how to get an associate's degree of some sort, so that I have a piece of paper asserting that I am an intelligent and productive member of society, if at a less prestigious level than a bachelor's degree. I don't have to actually get the degree in 2008, but I must form a solid, viable plan to get one in 2009 at the latest.
2) I resolve that I will go through my closets and examine all the boxes and crates and the contents thereof, organizing and getting rid of useless junk as I go.
3) I resolve that I will attempt to be more sociable and actually do stuff with people rather than be a complete recluse.
There. That ought to do it.
