I have been bashing my head against some original fiction these past few days. Also, work has been crazy, both in the 'busy' sense and the 'filled with weird customers' sense. (PM blames the full moon. I just blame Ithaca in general.)
Let me give you a mild example:
Yesterday, one of our regulars told me that she runs a figure-sketching class nearby, which meets for a couple hours on Thursday afternoons, and asked if I'd be interested in modeling for them sometime. Apparently they have trouble keeping female models.
If this pans out, it would pay $12.00 an hour.
I realized, after she'd left, that I'd forgotten to ask if this was nude figure-sketching, which might explain why they keep losing models. On the other hand, I think they'd have to pay more for that...
(The funniest part is that just a day or two earlier, that same customer had said to me, "I'm sorry I didn't recognize you with your clothes on!"
It was perfectly innocent, of course -- just a bad phrasing. She meant she was sorry she hadn't recognized me when we passed on the street, and I was bundled up in my coat and scarf. But it made AD and ET do one hell of a double-take. *grin*)
