edenfallingI woke up this morning with no electricity, which struck me as quite odd because we haven't had any storms or high wind to knock down power lines. It turns out that something blew at the secondary station down on Third St., which didn't get repaired until nearly 5pm.
Oh well, it was stinking hot -- I would've taken a cold shower anyway!
Speaking of temperatures, spring has arrived with a vengeance. The weather dithered and dilly-dallied around all through March and the first half of April, but we have now moved firmly into 60 F and up territory. I hauled out my three fans and set them up. The window fan gave me a bit of trouble, as usual, and two somewhat important pieces have snapped off, but it's in the window and won't come out until September, so I'll put off my worrying until then. :-)
Today also marked the beginning of my annual pollen allergy tribulations. I'm going to spend the next two to four weeks more or less constantly doped up on Benadryl and other antihistimines. Fortunately, as long as I'm standing up and moving around, I can fight off the consequent drowsiness fairly well -- I don't run into serious trouble until I sit down. (And then, unless I'm concentrating hard or absorbed by something fascinating, I can and will doze off in under five minutes. Which is impressive, because it usually takes me at least half an hour to fall asleep, even if I've been up for something like 30 hours straight!)
