Last night, I dreamed that I found an abandoned cat, which I took home until such time as I could find a local animal shelter. I figured that I could fight my allergy to cat dander with Benadryl for a few days in the service of a good cause.

She was a lovely cat, sort of creamy off-white with gray tabby markings along her spine (extending a few inches outward on either side) and on the top of her head. Her tail was gray-ish. She had apparently been somebody's pet before, since she wasn't shy of people and was extraordinarily inquisitive, to the point of jumping all over my bookcase and molesting my houseplants. She had a certain aversion to being picked up, and would squirm out of my hands and give me an infinitely superior look of suffering condescension when I finally managed to pick her up. She liked being petted, though.

I named her Nadya, nicknamed Nell.

It was such a realistic dream that when I woke up this morning, I was convinced for nearly a minute that my nose was clogged because of my cat allergy, not because I have a cold.

...

Clearly, I miss my dog.

*waves* I just stumbled onto your fics at FA, and I am really enjoying reading your stuff-- especially the Petunia fic. So I thought I'd friend you cuz we have the same birthday and you otherwise seem pretty rad.

XO, Meg
