I hate writing. I hate it I hate it I hate it. Swear to god.

Every time I think I'm getting somewhere on ch. 14, it up and changes on me! First I had to go rewrite ch. 13. Then it took me three more tries to make scene 1 of ch. 14 play nice... and it's still not within shouting distance of 'right,' though it's at least reached functionality instead of a giant tangled useless mess. Only now I've realized that the way scene 1 is going has rendered my outlined scene 4 unwritable, because scene 4 depended on having scene 1 go a certain way, which scene 1 (and the end of ch. 13) have now made utterly impossible.

But I need a scene 4. I can't just jump from scene 3 to scene 5; it would distort the arc of the chapter. So I stared blankly at the screen and wracked my mind and wondered what on earth I could put there... and remembered that years and years ago (and probably in mid-autumn, story time?) I wrote a conversation between Ginny and Hagrid, and possibly it would be a good idea for them to talk again since Ginny has, in a sideways fashion, been partially responsible for sending him to Azkaban. *headdesk* Then this new scene 4 promptly decided that the logical way to get Ginny and Hagrid in contact would be via Professor Sprout, who must be very worried about one of her favorite students by this point.

And it's all very reasonable and so on, and I like it in theory, but in practice...

Oh god, remind me why the hell I keep trying to put words one after another and string them into stories? Because I am at the phase where I am sure this never ends well.

*clicks through old chapter files trying to find that damn conversation with Hagrid*
