4 unrelated things: weather, birthdays, and manga

1. I am late in sending a birthday card to my cousin Benjamin, but this is okay since his family still hasn't sent one to me, and my birthday was nearly a month ago. (They do this every year.)

2. Yesterday it snowed steadily from sometime between 5 and 10am to about 5:30pm, and must have snowed some more after I got home at 7pm. The county sherrif put out a warning on road conditions and a number of places closed early. This included the library, so no email or internet for me yesterday. *pout*

3. I've started reading YuYu Hakusho manga. OMG, Yusuke and Keiko are just the cutest damn cute thing ever! (In volume two, Keiko douses herself with water and rushes into a burning house to save Yusuke's unconscious body, where she gets trapped. Yusuke's reaction: "There's no point in coming back to life if Keiko's dead!") Also, Yusuke is actually kind of bishounen, no matter what he does to his hair or how tough he is/acts. He has the 'pretty eyes' thing going. And Kuwabara is a massive dork, but he's a sweetheart. *pets Kuwabara*

4. I continue to read Petshop of Horrors backwards, now on volume 9. Mmmm, nice line-art. Leon seriously needs a fashion makeover, though. His shirts! My eyes! Ouch.

man, yu yu hakusho! i've been watching the anime (though i'm slowly collecting the super-pretty new japanese editions) and that scene with yuusuke and keiko and the burning house is easily one of my favorites. ♥

and yuusuke is a pretty boy. i think he has absolutely no idea, too, which is the funny part, because he would just beat up anyone who looked at him funny without thinking about it really. XD

(and um, kuwabara is seriously my hero.)

re: petshop of horrors: oh, oh. i love that series. so much. it's really intriguing to go from the manga to the anime in that one, because the lineart in the comic is so open and clean, but the anime uses a lot of heavy, dark colors (possibly trying to stick with the "horror" theme, where the comic is really more of a morality tale).

I love my local library, because they actually have a comics and manga collection worth speaking of. Granted, it can be hard to get your hands on any volumes, because they're constantly checked out, but still -- that's what hold requests are for! Also, since I now work at a magazine shop, I can get 'faced' copies of magazines when we pull them from the shelves... and this includes the English version of Shonen Jump, which is currently running YuYu Hakusho, and is in the middle of the Dark Tournament arc. *cackles in evil glee*

I always have to blink and stare whenever I see Yuusuke with his hair down - he looks both young and cute, which is, I suspect, the reason why he slicks his hair back all the time;) And Yuusuke/Keiko is exactly as it should be.

I'm watching through the end of the Dark Tournament myself atm. Great stuff!

Reply to part 2: Snow!!! I love snow!!! ... but I never get to play in it anymore, which is one of the great tragedies of my life.

Reply to part 3: Yu Yu Hakusho is one of my all time favorite animes. Its right up there with Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, and Cowboy Bebop. Until recently I had never even seen past the Dark Tournement... but I'm in chapter black now, and I love it.

Anyway, Yuusuke's interactions with Keiko are pretty funny sometimes. Especially when Yuusuke acts dumb around her. Still not as pathetic as Kuwabara around Yukina... or Kuwabara in the dark Tournament... or Kuwabar around cats... or Kuwabara in general... I think people like him 'cause he's kind of like a dumb puppy, too stupid to notice that he's making the same mistake over and over, and too loyal/brave to let his friends get hurt.

I don't really have time to play in the snow. I just have to shovel walks, and then trudge through snow and slush on my 20-minute walk to work, which kind of kills the 'whee, snow!' effect. *sigh*

I haven't read enough to see how Kuwabara acts around Yukina or cats, but I like him because he has a good heart. Characters with good hearts should be encouraged. :-)
