Things I did yesterday: submitted a FAFSA application, and then a TAP (NY state equivalent) application. Since this is for the 2018 spring semester, it's a 2017-18 FAFSA and based on my 2015 income, which was, frankly, shit, so it looks like I am probably eligible for some kind of financial aid. Online FAFSA processing is apparently super-fast, at least at off-season times of year. The TAP application is dependent on the FAFSA, so hopefully I will hear back from them soon as well.

Anyway, I guess I will learn more concrete details about my options at my orientation session tomorrow morning!

Now I just need to dig up my internal college system username and password...

Okay, done! I know the route to TC3, I know the room number I need to go to, presumably I cannot get too lost in the parking lots or the main building, and I will deal with anything else as it comes up. *resolve face*

Well, for the aid applications, it helps that I keep very organized back tax records. *wry*

I also have a habit of of emailing myself my user info whenever I set up important accounts -- coded, of course, with references that are gibberish to people who don't literally share my brain -- because my memory is a sieve for things like that and I like to make sure I have a record somewhere readily accessible.

And the rest is basically Google Maps, so.

(I am still biting my nails, because oh god an in-person conversation with people who have the power to judge me... *twitches*)

I have succumbed and now use LastPass. It simplifies my life enormously.

I may end up getting a password manager eventually, but for now I soldier onward with several variants of bases I can easily remember but are character soup to others. The trick is mostly remembering which base (and then which variant) I used for which account. *sigh*

Wow, FAFSA and TAP -- I haven't heard those acronyms in a long, long time. Hope both goes well and the state will give you a great aid package.

TC3 has not yet received my FAFSA or TAP (which makes sense, because bureaucracy grinds slowly), and I still need to submit a certificate of residence to reduce my tuition to in-state rates, but I have my two courses set for January and I know where and how to check the progress of the financial stuff. I also have an application for an additional local scholarship that I think I qualify for, which I will fill out and submit soon.

So things look pretty good so far! :)

The orientation went pretty well. We even ended up getting out an entire hour early, which is always nice!

Of course, now I have even more paperwork to deal with -- a certificate of residence (must be notarized, ugh) so I get in-state rather than out-of-state tuition rates, an application to a nifty local scholarship, more financial aid documents as that application processes through the bureaucracy -- but I am enrolled in two online courses and have a clear path to an associate degree in about two more semesters. :D
