stuff done, and a note about highly tentative future plans

Stuff done recently-ish:

1. Applied for a federal direct subsidized student loan. I think, if all goes well, that I can get an associate degree by the end of 2018, which means I will not be ruinously in debt and should be able to pay the damn thing back early. *crosses fingers*

2. Put a hold on my mail over Christmas.

3. Harvested four peppers and cooked two batches of veggie sidedish. Also cooked a batch of Laddie's hotdish.

4. Began the process of figuring out when the Stewardship Committee will have our meetings for the 2018 pledge drive.

5. Paid bills.

6. Figured out when I need to call my doctor to get a renewal of my Celexa prescription. (I have not yet figured out if there's a way to do this online, which would be my preference. But I can suck it up for a phone call -- or, more likely, a couple days of phone tag -- if necessary.)

7. Made a packing list and a to-do list for my Christmas trip to NJ.

And various and sundry other things, but those are probably the most immediately relevant.

In other news, Vicky plans to move to Minnesota (greater Twin Cities area) sometime in early 2018. She may not stay -- this is an experiment to see if she can live there year-round rather than just visit sporadically -- but if she does, I may join her in 2019. Tax preparation is a fairly portable job, and by then I should have my trained monkey paper (aka associate degree), which would make hunting for non-seasonal jobs a bit easier. And living together would definitely save us both money, so.

I guess we'll see what happens!

I only have 7 or 8 courses to finish (because of transfer credits and such), so if I take 2 this semester, 3 over the summer, and 3 in the fall... done by next Christmas! Or hopefully, anyway. :)

Thanks! And yeah, potentially Minnesota. Our parents are both from the Twin Cities (south Minneapolis for Mom, suburb of north St. Paul for Dad) so we've spent a lot of time visiting both in summer and around Christmas. On the other hand, we are both East Coast natives, so our experience of seasons is moderated by the ocean; we'll see how Vicky copes with inland temperature swings. *wry*

Thanks! And it's a little nerve-wracking to think of moving cross-country -- I am by temperament a homebody and a creature of habit -- but occasional adventure is good for the soul, so. *crosses fingers*

*rueful* I can't say a long move isn't anxiety-causing, and that would be a good three-day haul unless you're driving all day in shifts, but I will totally be up for holding your hand electronically while you settle in. Goodness knows I relied pretty heavily on my dwircle to get me through my move out here.

My family used to drive from NJ to western Iowa in one fell swoop for Christmas, four drivers in rotating shifts (once Vicky and I were both legal to drive anyway), and I think that was... 20 to 23 hours, depending on traffic and weather? But that was brutally exhausting and something we only did because A) dog and B) tight schedules; I would not repeat it if I had any other options. Anyway, Ithaca to the Twin Cities is a two-day trip if you don't mind arriving late and tired, though three days is more sensible for a lone driver.

I am sure I will do plenty of headless chicken panicking whenever I move from my current apartment, whether that's across the country or just across town. *wry*
