wherein Liz screams quietly into the void

We still don't have a replacement for Miss Cactus.
On the one hand, this is good for me -- covering her Thursday and Friday shifts means I not only get regular pay for those hours, I also get overtime pay for some of them because it adds up to 45-46 hours per week. Also I get to make myself look and feel more indispensable to Mom Boss and Aunt Boss.
But on the other hand, there's nobody in the office to fill that job slot on Mondays, which means I get all of Monday's work dumped on my head the minute I walk in on Tuesday morning. And some weeks, that would be fine! Some weeks I spend most of my time sitting around reading or writing and waiting for the occasional phone call or tenant coming in to pick up a package.
Late May is not one of those periods.
I finally managed to catch up by 6:30pm today (okay, technically there's a couple things left but they are minor and also simple; I can knock them out between 9am and 10am, easy-peasy), and I am really glad that the flood should taper off by next week as all the students leave town, whether or not I have a new coworker.
...
And now to bed, because I am EXHAUSTED. *flops*
