1. In work news, today I made an experimental PDF file and kludged around with it until I figured out how to remove the problem item from the NYSEG account application PDF. I will update the template form accordingly tomorrow, as well as adding the second page back in. (We removed it because it's irrelevant, but the lack of a page 2 when page 1 declares that page 2 exists seems to confuse people. *sigh*) Then I get to update a couple hundred forms with changed third-party information, which unfortunately must be done manually. At least there's copypaste.

(This is how I learned pretty much everything I know about computers, fyi: I had to solve a problem and basically either googled or clicked around and tried random stuff until I found a workable solution. Are they the best solutions? Maybe not. But do they get the job done? You betcha. Which is good enough for me.)

The deluge of packages continues apace, but I am finally back on top of the move-in inspection forms. Tomorrow I need to start making a list of people who haven't turned their forms in, so we can send reminder emails. I think the simplest way to do that is to make a copy of the Excel 2018/19 tenant master list and then delete everyone whose forms I've received. Tedious, but every other option is worse. (We do hardcopy inspection forms. In an ideal world we would do all that online, but alas, our company's owner has only grudgingly and halfway moved into the 21st century.)

2. In college news, I have continued to participate in my weekly Government discussion, and I signed and subitted the syllabus contract for Spanish. Unfortunately I still haven't had a chance to study this week's vocabulary. Perhaps tomorrow night? (I'd do it tonight, but my brain is gently fried and that's not a good state of mind for memorization.)

3. In church news, I need to pay a recycling sale IOU by Tuesday. I also agreed to do a third hospitality team task this Sunday: in addition to my usual tasks of providing snacks and doing coffee-hour cleanup, I am now on the hook to arrive half an hour early to set up chairs in the parlor. (Summer services are held in the parlor rather than the sanctuary proper.)

The hospitality team organizers really like me because I am both a reliable volunteer and an expert at cleanup, which is a task other people seem to dislike. Apparently most people find standing over a hot sink and getting wrinkly fingers from soapy water unpleasant. I find it meditative. I also like being able to point to tangible achievements (clean dishes, that I washed!), and I like having a defined way to participate as part of the community that doesn't require me to stand aimlessly around in the parlor and hope I find someone to talk to. I find unstructured large group interactions both awkward and unpleasant, and would always rather be on the team hosting the event rather than a guest with no defined role.

Anyway, we're doing ad-hoc hospitality teams these final two weeks, before starting a new two-year cycle of four teams on September 9th, when the regular church year resumes. I don't know which team I will be on yet, but that should get sorted out soon and I expect my team leader will organize some kind of potluck for us to get to know each other as a group. Then I can get back to my regularly scheduled snacks and dishes. *wry*
