family stuff :(

Vicky is going through a really painful breakup (one of those things where neither party did anything wrong or fell out of love but there were incompatible needs, which are in some ways the worst) and is messed up and guilty and lonely and also worried about her former partner who has been... uh... having some issues, let's say, and I am just really glad that I get to see her in person next week because she needs ALL THE HUGS and tragically we are separated by hundreds of miles and a whole time zone, so I can't make her hot chocolate and gently pet her hair in person. :(
We had really long text conversations Thursday and Friday, and a phone call Friday as well, and I am going to text her again Saturday assuming life doesn't jump down my throat.
...
I'm starting to think I should look into that "move to Minnesota" plan more seriously again, with a potential target date of summer 2019. Even if we don't end up sharing a house/apartment, just being in the same city would probably be helpful for both of us. I mean, I don't really want to leave Ithaca -- I love this city and I have a pretty good life here -- but I don't think it would be a desperate wrench to move. And Minnesota is pretty cool as alternate domiciles go.
Or maybe I could sound Vicky out about moving here? She has a highly portable job, after all, and I think she'd like Ithaca for itself, even if it does get awfully gray in the winter. (East coast weather. What can you do? But at least it's less bitter and bonedust-dry than the Midwest.)
Mnrgh. One day at a time, I guess, and I will plan a bunch of talking-and-hugging into my Thanksgiving schedule.
