Please do not purchase any gift cards, disclose any bank information or send any money. Margaret is fine, and we wouldn't want anyone taken advantage of.

Sadly, our parish priest had to send out a similar alert a while back, apparently the hacker(s) also target social media. Disgusting, isn’t it?

Yeah. Like, I can sort of see the logic -- people who belong to a religious organization are highly likely to help/support other members of that congregation, and to trust them if they say they're having trouble, so you have a good chance of getting some money before the same tight-knit nature of the group catches on and shuts you out -- but it's really low to prey on that goodwill. :(
