It feels deeply weird to have gotten up at 8:30am on a day when I don't have to be at work until 4pm. I've already done several chores and now I have at least three hours until I need to leave the house (depending on which bus I choose to take, and whether I want to walk into town to do a small errand beforehand). I am frankly at loose ends.

I have run my oven for an hour to air out the residual weird smell after both the explosion and my liberal use of Windex to clean out years of gunk on Sunday evening. I have made a start on arranging a car ride to an event on Sunday and phone dates with Nick, Cat, and Susan. I have gotten a couple steps into planning my June vacation to Minnesota. (Further work requires consultation with Mom Boss and Aunt Boss to make sure we have adequate coverage at the rental office.) I have boiled some eggs, washed all my dishes, taken my latest recycling out to the porch, misted and watered my houseplants, and so on.

I mean, the obvious next step is writing, but I can't seem to wrench my head into the right mental space. This is annoying.

...I think I will try switching to a different fic project and seeing if that goes any better. *wry*

ETA 1:30pm

I wrote 150 words on a different project (the opening scene of "Guardian" ch. 18, actually), finished arranging the car ride and one of the phone calls, and ate lunch. I also read some fic and brought in today's mail, which I then sorted and dealt with.

I have a bit over an hour left until I head out (I have decided to do the in-town errand after all), so I think I'll switch back to my original writing project and see if it's feeling more cooperative now. :)
