It turns out I will NOT have to walk up East Hill on Memorial Day. \o/
This is because A) it turns out we're actually closed on account of Federal holiday (this can be a bit of a crapshoot, which is why I assumed we'd be open), and B) because we're having such a hard time finding a replacement for Miss Goldberry, we're switching to "summer hours" starting this coming week.
What summer hours means in practical terms is that instead of working 9am-7pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday, and 10am-6pm on Saturdays, I will work 9am-6pm Tuesday through Friday, and 10am-5pm on Saturdays. This will kick me slightly into overtime each week, which is nice from a financial perspective, but each individual workday will be shorter and I still get a two-day weekend so I shouldn't get fried, even though I will still be staffing the office alone on Saturdays.
We'll see how it plays out in practice.
