1. Nick had his top surgery this morning. It went well!

Actual text conversation we then had this afternoon:

Me: Happy no more books day! :D :D :D

Me: Argh, BOOBS. I meant boobs. Stupid autocorrect

Nick: Hahahahaha

Nick: Amazing typo

Nick: And thank you!

No more boobs day is worth celebrating!

No more books day is just too horrifying to contemplate. :D

2. I found a dead mouse in the cupboard under my kitchen sink when I opened it to get a new trash bag. *sigh* The mouse is now out on the yard waste pile where one of the neighborhood cats may find some use for it; the trap is cleaned, bleached, and drying on my counter; and tomorrow I will buy a new Snickers bar to use as bait when I reset it.

(I use snap traps because I don't check live traps anywhere remotely often enough for them not to turn into horrific death-by-starvation-and-dehydration kill chambers, and glue traps and poison are hideously inhumane. Snap traps don't always kill cleanly -- the mice don't always approach by a convenient angle -- but they have the best chance of a relatively swift end. And yeah, I bait them with bits of candy bar. The chocolate and caramel don't rot, and the mice think they're delicious.)

Wonderful news about Nick! Also, I'm with you on the snap traps. They work cleanly and immediately about 95 % of the time. I'd not thought of Snickers bars -- an excellent idea. And as for that 5%, don't ever ask me about that time with the trap that got caught in a car tire.
