Things and stuff!
I feel like I've been letting my life slide these past several weeks... maybe this past... month and a half? two months? three? I dunno, time gets sort of elastic when I'm not paying close attention. But I've been kind of "meh" about stuff in general for a while. I think this may just be that I don't have a driving interest at the moment, whether fannish or brickspace, so I'm kind of puttering around trying to find a new consuming fire and sort of dropping other things intermittently as I test various options.
The closest I have at the moment is listening to audiobooks and one particular podcast, but that's a very passive thing rather than something where I have any reciprocal creative impulse, which is a problem. I need things to MAKE, or at least things to DO, and at the moment I'm just kind of a lump doing random chores.
Or, you know, avoiding random chores, as the case may be. *sigh*
Anyway, tomorrow I have a blood donation appointment scheduled for 11am (fingers crossed my hemocrit is high enough), and on Wednesday I have my final set of fillings. I will be SO GLAD to be done with these damn fillings -- that was FIVE unexpected and VERY EXPENSIVE appointments this year, and my budget is KIND OF STRAINED as a consequence.
Every other year of my life, not getting dental insurance has been the financially sensible choice, since the cost of insurance would be higher than the cost of my appointments. This year, though? Ye gods and little fishes, I should have taken the dental add-on when I signed up for a general health plan. But of course there's no way to know ahead of time, unless you have amazing luck with your x-ray checkup scheduling. *deeper sigh*
But you know, they did x-ray me at my semi-annual cleaning/checkup appointment last week and I have no new cavities, so HOPEFULLY next year will go back to the usual pattern of dental insurance not being worth the expense.
...
Also, I just had some very nice roasted asparagus for dinner (along with a sandwich for carbs and protein), and now I'm going to make some banana bread for dessert. I am never going to enjoy cooking for its own sake, but there's a certain satisfaction in being able to produce tasty food in a relatively efficient fashion. *wry*
