no seriously, how is this my life?
Feb. 7th, 2020 09:42 amSo, this morning I got up about five minutes early and then was very efficient at my morning routine, because I wanted to leave about ten minutes early to make sure I caught my bus despite the inherent delay of having to trudge through snow on my way into town.
And that part worked! I got to the bus stop five minutes before the scheduled departure time!
Whereupon I discovered that none of the buses were running. The roads are a mess because it's wet snow over an underlying layer of ice, and the snow is still coming down practically thick as milk so the plows and salt trucks aren't having much luck getting anything cleared for more than a couple minutes.
I texted Mom Boss and Aunt Boss to let them know I would be late, and that I'd try walking up East Hill to Collegetown. This is doable but unpleasant under good weather conditions -- one arrives at the top coated in sweat regardless of how fit or unfit one might be, which is not a good professional look; there are reasons I pay for a bus ride instead -- and is downright horrible in the middle of a snowstorm.
But I made it!
...And of course once I was already 90% of the way up, Mom Boss's husband texted to offer me a ride. *headdesk*
Anyway, I firmly expect this to be a slow day, and we may well close early. We shall see how it goes.
