daily update, Saturday Feb. 29
Feb. 29th, 2020 10:23 pmThings done today:
1. Called in sick to work. (Or rather, texted in sick. But that sounds weird, you know? I think "call in sick" has become something of a frozen idiom, or whatever the technical term is.)
2. Slept a lot. Like, I got up at 8:15am and showered in hopes that I'd feel functional enough to work, but that clearly didn't pan out. But I was up and clean, so I got dressed and ate breakfast and made myself some tea and websurfed until just past 10am, at which point the universe whacked me in the face with a bag of sand so I changed back into pajamas and fell into bed.
I got up again around 2:30pm, whereupon I took a second shower and spent two hours attempting to convince myself to walk to the local-ish drug store and pick up more NyQuil. I got as far as putting on my shoes and opening the front door to chuck out some recycling and bring in my mail, but the cold air in my lungs was a very convincing argument to just stay home. So I ate lunch (reheated leftover soup) and fell back into bed around 6pm.
Then I got up at 8:30pm, made some dinner (badly; I initially misremembered the necessary oven temperature to heat the fish patties, which is a good sign that I am unwell), and now am about to fall back into bed again.
3. Wrote ~225 words on the Doctor Who/Magnus Archives crossover fill, because I...
4. Dug out my external DVD/CD player, plugged it into my laptop, and made the unpleasant discovery that at some point during various mandatory updates, my old DVD-reading/playing program seems to have vanished off my hard drive. *headdesk* But I was able to find a new one for only five bucks, which is not terrible even though it does have a horribly garish color scheme. *sigh* Anyway, I can now watch my old Doctor Who DVDs, so that's something.
And now, as previously mentioned, I am going to fall into bed.
...
Oh, right, I should maybe post about yesterday, too? So I left work early on account of illness (ugh), but the other things I did were: A) write one 3-sentence ficathon fill and B) bake brownies in the evening because I very badly needed chocolate. And that's pretty much it.
And now, for really and truly, it is time to sleep.
