1. My church had some technical difficulties with our live-streaming this morning -- we couldn't get Zoom to play nicely with YouTube -- but the fallback of a Facebook livestream worked mostly okay, aside from some intermittent sound glitches. I am glad I virtually attended. :)

2. My bean soup took longer to cook than usual, which is probably because I only soaked the beans for ~10 hours instead of 12+. But it smelled like food this morning (for a good long while it just smells like dirty water with an overtone of raw onion, which is super gross), and once I turned up the heat for a few hours, it coagulated nicely.

This soup is ugly as all get out, sort of vaguely ochre brownish and mushy, but it tastes delicious and it's practically a meal in itself considering the beans, the ham, the onion, and the carrots. And now I have ten servings chilling in my fridge! (Four of the containers -- two servings per -- are going directly into the freezer when I get home this evening.)

3. Had a brief phone conversation with Landlord Dude, who's checking in with all his tenants on how Covid-19 is or will affect our rent payments and such. General consensus seems to be that we're all okay for the April payment, but May might be a problem. He's going to talk to his bank about mortgage relief and so on with our input in mind.

4. I was going to use my purple carrots in the bean soup, but last night I discovered they'd all grown roots and were trying to grow stems and leaves as well, so this morning I planted them in a big tub of dirt. We shall see what happens.

5. Walked into town and caught a #70 bus out to the mall.

6. Worked (am working?) 2-6pm at Not the IRS, where we have gone to drop-off only, whether that's physically bringing documents into the office and filling out a couple simple forms so we can do the return while the client goes home and we all stay at least 6 feet apart from each other, or whether it's uploading all documents via the internet and never seeing anyone in person at all.

I got most of the way through one client's return, but had to email them for some additional information without which I can't finish the return. They haven't emailed back yet, so I guess I'll just finish up on Tuesday.

7. Bought a tiny succulent at the grocery store, which was a foolish impulse decision but buying houseplants is my personal version of retail therapy, okay, and it's cute and I needed something nice. Fingers crossed I can keep it alive...

And now I will start closing things down in order to be able to catch the 6pm bus back into town.
