1. Rental company office 9am-5pm. A slow day, which I filled mostly by continuing to work on the scanning and uploading project. I finished the second half of the stack Aunt Boss gave me on Monday (which did go faster in that it contained fewer files, but required more manual attention because several had too many pages to fit into the scanner all at one time, so I had to feed the pages in by hand), and then she handed me a second, equally large stack. I'm not sure I'll get through all of this stack tomorrow, but I'll give it a shot.

2. Listened to the Magnus Archives episode 161, the first in season 5. In non-spoilery summary, AUGH, break my heart more why don't you.

In more spoilery summary, that first tape was like a punch in the gut in all the best ways, as a reminder of the OG Archives crew and what could have been if this weren't a cosmic horror tragedy. And the second tape, Gertrude's "if you're hearing this, I'm dead" message, was just... weirdly, I think that's the nicest thing she ever did on-page, as it were? Though given the circumstances, it plays instead as cruel irony and salt in the wound, and now I'm even sadder about Sasha's fate.

I don't have a lot to say about the apocalypse per se, though I guess the Fears rendering normal bodily needs extraneous because that's not what they're interested in does reduce a number of logistical complications. But that's going to do weird things to any post-apocalyptic community-building efforts that I kind of want to explore. But not right now. I have other projects right now.

3. Added ~550 words to the Narnia/Naruto crossover which were mostly Characters A, B, and C talking around a big emotional minefield though eventually they're going to have to dive in and confront it.

4. Had a couple hours of burning frustration at Tumblr's new dashboard "upgrades," though I did finally manage to switch them off. I have heard a rumor that the ability to do so relies on having Xkit installed and possibly that's why I was unable to so much as FIND the off-switch while I was at work. If that's the case, I strongly hope that having hit the switch at home will affect the display when I log in elsewhere, since I suspect I don't have access permissions to install browser extensions on my work computer. Since the chief result of the "upgrade" is a forced change from a paginated feed to infinite scrolling, I really, truly, desperately need the "upgrade" to remain toggled off.

And that's pretty much it for the day.

Now I am going to bed.

The Xkit people did say that the new Tumblr owner types are working with them to help get Xkit updated, so I would not be entirely surprised. Wordpress has a long history of playing very nicely indeed with plugin makers, so I'm hoping this is a lasting change, and it wouldn't surprise me if there /is/ some "check for Xkit, if yes enable toggle" tucked into the update by now.
