Yesterday I went back, yanked Electra's plot derailment out of "Secrets," and wrote over it; the point she raised was a good one, but not really in keeping with the general flow of the chapter. Chapter 10 is now at 6,000 words total. I saved the derailment as an alternate scene and may use it later on.

Today I wrote about 350 words of "Lemonade" in longhand during slow periods at work. I also cleaned the basement refrigerator and microwave, and scrubbed out a couple buckets while I was at it. It is, you understand, difficult to clean things properly if your cleaning materials are filthy themselves. *sigh*

Today was also the annual Ithaca Chili Cook-off on the Commons, which meant we had a slight increase in store traffic today. It also meant that my lunch break was more irritating than relaxing, since I had to fight my way through crowds and put up with people constantly asking if I was using the extra chairs at my table in the food court. (I wasn't, and I said so, but I like to unwind while eating and I don't want human interaction when what I'm unwinding from is working retail and constantly wearing my polite-and-helpful face.)

Tomorrow I'm on at church, assisting in the first grade OWL program. The weather forecast is for high winds and temperatures hovering around 10 degrees Fahrenheit in the morning. Which I will have to walk through, for twenty minutes, to get to church. I am not happy about this.

Good for you! I should probably email my "accidental sex-ed" story from a few days ago to the OWL leaders at my church, just so they'll know that Maya has heard that term already...
