There has been a continuing issue with my new downtown keys, where they will work correctly in locks that are perfectly aligned, but the moment a lock gets a bit finicky, the keys stick and refuse to turn -- or in one case wouldn't go into the lock at all.
The downtown Maintenance guy thinks this is because they were cut a little too pointy and should probably be sanded down a bit. He's going to have our key guy take a look tomorrow.
This is particularly relevant because they ALSO just made a new set of downtown keys for Company Owner's sister, and if HERS don't work... well, that's going to be a big problem for a lot of people, real fast.
...
In other news, after I spent 9am-10am getting a spare computer and scanner set up in the downtown office so I could begin catching up on their document scanning backlog, I drove home to grab a couple things I'd forgotten (this is why I like inflexible morning routines! I get all mixed up without them because I am only about 50-80% awake before 9:30am no matter how good a job I do at faking alertness!), drove halfway back into town, and walked the rest of the way to the Commons office. It was kind of a mess. *sigh*
But on to other tasks! I finished my first spreadsheet of doom this evening, along with 98% of the related Flash-to-PDF file conversions. \o/ Now I get to start sorting through folders upon folders of old .jpeg files to see if we have any pictures and/or floor plans for apartments that don't currently have one or both of those posted on our website, and if so, remedy the problem. Also convert my new PDFs to JPEGs, because reasons. *sigh*
I need to bug Mom Boss about stealing a couple storage containers of apartment staging materials from Collegetown so I can get to work on taking shiny new pictures of empty apartments before new tenants move in. I don't need much -- a bedspread, a pillow, a towel for the bathroom, maybe a fake plant, one or two pieces of dollar store wall-art, and one or two light items for the kitchen will do in a pinch, though having a couple knick-knacks and maybe a second bedspread and pillow would be helpful for multi-bedroom units. The idea isn't to make apartments look fully lived-in, just to make them look more inviting than they do when completely naked.
Hmm. And I need to poke around the downtown Craigslist account, which I now have the password for but didn't get around to accessing today. I do not have high hopes for the quality of the ads.
Other progress made:
1. Mr. Geniality and I have started to work out a protocol for who answers which emails and how to let each other know we've done so. The fine details are still up in the air, but the basic framework is solid.
2. I wrote up a document scanning protocol, which took me ~30 minutes. It's not what I would have done if I was starting from scratch, but it regularizes the piecemeal stuff downtown was already doing and also adds new instructions for how to scan and attach tenant ID images. And it lives on the Z-drive where anyone can access it, instead of living scattered in various people's heads. This is important!!!
3. I sorted through a lot of badly organized photos and uploaded the relevant ones to Google Photos, so Miss Cactus (who is apparently doing some consulting work for us, at Mom Boss's request and also because money is helpful in a tight economy) can work on making shiny new ad templates.
4. I unpacked and set up some new office supplies: a mini-fridge (yay!), some wastebaskets, and a cart that I need to attach wheels to tomorrow. (That requires a Philips head screwdriver and I don't have tools in the new office. I think I'll just bring mine from home for now.) I'm still waiting on the microwave and the electric kettle, and I suspect I'm not going to get the cubicle wall (or equivalent) that I asked for, and probably not the break room table either. *sigh* I might just head over to the Salvation Army store and see if I can grab something myself for cheap.
...
Now I think I will go mix up some brownies, after which I will lie down for fifteen minutes while they bake. Then I will try to get some writing done. :)
