I literally was at work for 12 hours today, what the actual fuck.

Can the college rental market please stabilize right the fuck now? Please???

Also I had to do an entire week's worth of NYSEG bullshit in one day because Miss California has negative hours per day to do anything beyond frantically run in place and it's my spreadsheet anyway.

Next week I'm going to arrive at 9am instead of 10am and spend the entire day doing NYSEG and answering phones. No scanning, no emails, no nothing. There will simply not be time, because next week I will have 2.5 times as many NYSEG forms and meter photos to deal with as I did today. Maybe 3 times, honestly, depending on how many apartments we rent this week.

At least I got all my downtown apartment photos downloaded from the camera and uploaded to Google photos for Miss Cactus to work with? And more supplies have arrived in Collegetown for Maintenance to take to the Commons office, including my new office chair, which is helpful.

I'm going to finish my Black Russian and chicken nuggets and fall into bed now. At least my new laptop should arrive tomorrow?

I hear you. We got a /new/ "what we're doing in fall" update, today, which, reading between the lines, says "for god's sake take online courses if you can". Ann Arbor downtown properties have to be losing their minds.

Cornell's current thing is, "You are required to quarantine for 14 days if you're arriving from a state on New York's interdiction list, but you can't do that on campus and the hotels we're partnering with don't have adequate space for all of you. Please make your own arrangements!"

So we're getting a LOT of requests for two-week sublets. And the thing is, it would be nice to accommodate that... but to do it safely and responsibly would require double our current office staff and probably triple our current maintenance and housekeeping staff, and all for no extra income because it would all be sublets. That is logistically impossible. So we have a blanket policy of "We can rent you an apartment for the whole year, after which you're welcome to quarantine in your new apartment in one of our buildings, but we can't accept any sublets shorter than one semester."

We are still spending so much time processing sublets that we've fallen behind on processing actual leases, let alone all the other work required to keep the offices and business afloat. *headdesk*

*facepalm* Oh wow. At least UofM is telling people to quarantine /before/ returning.

Unfortunately given the way NY's quarantine rules are structured, even if you quarantine for two weeks in your home state, you then still have to quarantine for another two weeks upon your arrival in New York. *headdesk*

Which I think is because parts of New York got hit REALLY BADLY in the first wave of Covid-19 and, having painfully gotten that first outbreak under control, our government doesn't trust a lot of other states to be taking things seriously. (And honestly, I am not sure I disagree at this point.)
