Real question here: I am thinking of maybe opening up the NY Times homepage and reading some non-local news.

Is it worth it? Or will I just drown in stress and get no sleep tonight?

Still stress, but hopeful stress? Things are looking like they may not be continuing down the worst timeline, but there's counting still to go. If precise figures help you, then go for it. If that will only make you bite your nails, maybe just go straight to sleep.

I just took a look at the NYT homepage and it's mostly the election and the pandemic, so maybe you want to scroll down really fast or click straight into another category. If you're good at blocking things out, it's probably safe to read but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.

I just usually end up going to an international news site to get away from any local coverage or to have less concentrated news stories about the election.
