Well. That sure was an evening.

...

I can't say much because of confidentiality, but long story short, my church's Board of Trustees, minister, and staff had a Zoom meeting which was scheduled to A) deal with some stuff that happened at last week's Board meeting and B) do some post-mortem analysis of stuff that happened this past summer.

Instead we got hit with a new piece of news, talked about it for a while, and agreed to cut the meeting short because none of us are now in a frame of mind to productively deal with topics A and B.

*deep breath*

...

Yeah, I think I'm going to go sit with this news for a while.

It's not terrible new, but it is a hell of a shake-up and the entire course of our year has abruptly changed. Again. *slumps*

I think we will be okay, but it's going to be, shall we say, an interesting year. And as a Board member -- and more specifically as a member of the executive committee -- I am kind of stuck trying to get us through the challenges, which is going to be such a headache.

...

Even if I don't move to Minnesota next June (which remains my intention), I am 100% going to step down when the third year of my Board term is up. I do not have the spoons to run for reelection and shoulder another three years of responsibility.
