1. I have new glasses! The world is bright and sparkly-clear! I can read clocks on walls across the room! And I have glare-free lenses, which is extra cool!
*cough*
Hey, if you're nearsighted, you know how it feels to have the world snap back into focus. :-)
------------------------------
2. Apparently my library carries Angel Sanctuary, by Kaori Yuki. I now have vols. 6-11, and have hold requests on vols. 1-5 and 12-14.
So far (read vol. 6, am halfway through vol. 7) I am very confused about significant portions of backstory, but this is kind of addictive, and very pretty. I will probably say something longer and more coherent after I've read more. At the moment, all I have to say is that Kaori Yuki must have a very interesting brain.
------------------------------
3. I got the signature guarantee on my letter to Vanguard, so one of my mutual fund accounts and the annuity thingywhatsit (can you tell I suck at high finance?) will be transfered out of custodial account status and into my sole control. This is good. Dad's closing the other mutual fund account and sending me the check, which I think I will use to open a savings account at my Ithaca bank. Gradually, I am shifting all the random detritus of a modern life to Ithaca instead of New Jersey.
I also got my June rent check stopped, which costs 30 dollars, ye gods. Oh well, this just means my landlords will get less money for that month, since like heck am I paying extra because they lost my check.
------------------------------
4. I'm wearing a skirt for the first time in, oh, months. This is because our (minimal) dress code at the shop forbids open-toed shoes, and I don't have any close-toed shoes that both look okay with skirts and are comfortable enough to stand around in for a minimum of five hours, not to mention walk to work in.
But it is stinking hot, and I have today off; hence, sandals! And my nifty floaty blue crinkle skirt with the green-and-purple tulip pattern.
I do like this skirt. And now and then, it's fun to be girly and dress up for no particular reason. :-)

Date: 2006-07-19 01:45 am (UTC)Ye gods does she ever. I swear, with AS it feels like there are plot twists every five seconds or so... and the list of characters just keeps going on and on and on and on... And then there's her series "Count Kain" (I think the English version being published under the name "Godchild"), which is just as twisted. I think she has a strange interest in incest, 'cause there's a *lot* of that in Count Kain. ^^;;;
