This post will be vague for privacy reasons.

So.

Late last week, my friend Susan called to tell me her husband had died. Long story very short, he called 911 for a medical emergency and one of the responding cops shot him.

This is my friend Susan whose wedding I was a bridesmaid in just this past June.

They had been married for all of three months.

About 90 percent of the time, the whole thing doesn't feel real. I keep forgetting, because there is no way it can possibly be real.

The other 10 percent of the time I am some mix of horrified, numb, and screamingly furious.

...

The incident is under investigation. I hope they nail the cop to the fucking wall. I have a terrible feeling they won't.

The funeral is on Saturday. I am driving down to NJ to attend.

And that is all.
