It occurs to me that if this journal is to be of any use as a journal, I should probably post more. *wry*

On that note, my first week back from vacation has been a bit of a mixed bag. Obviously there was the whole mess with Canadian wildfires and massively deteriorating air quality across the northeast US. Ithaca's air quality topped 400 around the middle of Wednesday, which was deeply unpleasant.

I actually spent almost the entirety of Wednesday in bed, because it was my day off and also because I decided, responsibly, to take my pills with some crackers before heading back to bed to sleep in until 11ish, but on account of being only 1/3 awake, accidentally took my blood pressure medication twice. *headdesk* So I kept setting my alarm for intervals of about 90 minutes in case I took a downturn, but mostly I just had very cold hands and feet and was absolutely exhausted all day.

Today I had to run into work to collect some papers I'd left in the downtown office, because I need to return them to the Collegetown office on Monday. This turned out to be helpful because I was able to let Company Owner's wife in to help him collect some stuff and head home for the evening -- I guess he didn't hear her calling his phone? Anyway, I also collected some keys from the drop-box and sent an email to Ms. Random Numbers telling her to check the apartment on Monday morning.

In other other news, some items I ordered from Lands End arrived this afternoon. I am 100% keeping one and returning two, but I'm undecided on the final two items. They are technically meant as swimsuit coverups, but they're basically very loose and comfy summer dresses that I would actually be willing to wear to work, so... hmm. I'm gonna sleep on it and see how I feel tomorrow.

I have also ordered some cute bee-themed earrings to go with my cute bee-themed skirt, and some shower caps so I can experiment with only washing my hair every other day, because spending 6 minutes with a hairdryer every morning in the height of summer is not really tenable, but neither is NOT drying my hair, so. The bulk of it doesn't get gross anyway, so I think as long as I scrub a bit around my hairline an every-other-day schedule could work. We shall see how that functions in practice, though.

I'll try to go backdate some posts about my vacation later this week.

How orange was your area on Wednesday? I was at work and we were watching everything outside turning more orange by the minute. Definitely felt like we were living life on Mars, and could smell the smoke even from higher up.

At least it went back to some shade of normal by evening though the smoke smell continued to linger for a bit.

Thursday was a lot better, though many of my coworkers stayed home. I think there was still a faint smell a bit like someone was having a barbecue in the morning but it didn't last very long. And we were definitely back to normal by Friday.

Fingers crossed that smoke doesn't head your way or mine again!
