wherein Liz is far too busy!

edenfallingIt never ceases to amaze me how much stuff I can get done in one evening if I have people coming to visit within the next day or two.
Last night I took apart my 'new' bookcase (which has been standing un-put-together for about two months now), put it back together properly, chocked it level, and moved all my books so I now have three empty shelves at the end of my fiction section. That let me move some stacks of 'books to be read' over to that bookcase, which gives me some space to rearrange my nonfiction so the half-shelf worth of new books I've acquired since 2006 will be shelved instead of stacked on the floor.
I took out my window fan, scraped accumulated dust from the screen, and put my fans in the living room closet. I took some empty boxes from that closet, put my rarely-worn shoes into those boxes, stacked the boxes in my bedroom closet, put two never-worn pairs of shoes into a battered suitcase (for eventual donation to the church rummage sale -- the suitcase, too), and used the resulting free space to rearrange my living room closet.
I vacuumed all the rooms, took down my cloth shower curtain, put up the plastic shower curtain, and soaked the cloth shower curtain in bleach and hot water for an hour, as prep for washing it this weekend. I cleaned the bathroom, washed dishes, and started to tidy some papers on the living room table.
And finally, I found a Christmas present for my mom in a mail order catalogue, and marked it so I can write up the order tonight.

What bugs is me is that obviously I am capable of being this productive all the time. So why don't I ever seem to manage that normally? I even had time to read 3/4 of a book last night, so it's not like this sort of schedule would eat all my spare time, and if I don't have that excuse... well...
