edenfalling: golden flaming chalice in a double circle (gold chalice)
Marcia picked me up at 12:30 and we headed out to the Cayuga Nature Center. They had bagels and other snack-type foods, and I stuck around for two workshops. The first one was "Emerson in a Nutshell," which was cool 'cause I haven't done Emerson for a few years now.

The second was the worship workshop the UUSG was running. It ended up being just us and Nat's mom, but that was okay, since we were actually doing a worship ceremony as well as talking about ideas you can use to design your own. This one was based on the four elements idea, with air cleansing and creating the sacred space, fire for our passion and committment, water for compassion and healing, and earth for groundedness and connections.

It was cool. We lit candles, shared life experiences, and sang a lot. Plus we got to play with clay for the earth part, which is always fun. Except Nat doesn't have a kiln, so we had to smush our creations so he could take the clay back to wherever he got it from. :-(

Sadly, I have reading to do so I left with Josh before the third workshop session.

Um. It occurs to me that I should perhaps list UUSG members: me, Josh, Jasmine, Nat, Emily, Jesse, Sharon, Eric (those last four were not at Soul Food Saturday), and our friendly neighborhood ministers, the Rev. Dick Gilbert and the Rev. Marcia Curtis. Also Kara and Carrie, but they were doing study abroad this year. And assorted others who show up now and then. We're a fairly young group, only founded back in fall of 1998, but I think we're doing pretty well.

[total self-absorption on]

Am writing "Secrets." Have hit the Gryffindor-Slytherin Quidditch match. I hate writing Quidditch. If the stupid scene weren't so important to the plot, I would ditch it in a heartbeat.

Grrr.

Stupid JKR for setting up her stupid story so my important character moments have to be interwoven with her stupid Quidditch match.

[/end total self-absorption]
