Am writing "Secrets." Have hit the Gryffindor-Slytherin Quidditch match. I hate writing Quidditch. If the stupid scene weren't so important to the plot, I would ditch it in a heartbeat.

Grrr.

Stupid JKR for setting up her stupid story so my important character moments have to be interwoven with her stupid Quidditch match.

I don't think I could write Quidditch if my life depended on it. Hence, there are no Quidditch scenes in any of my fics. But then, Quidditch means (to me) action/adventure, and since I can't plot my way out of a paper bag, that's a genre I don't even attempt. I'm all about characterization and dialog. Oh well.

Yes! Action is evil! And that's exactly why I don't want to write this scene.

Except I have to because there are important character moments as Ginny's watching the blasted match, blast it all.

You're reminding me of part of why I gave up on Love Is Thicker Than Blood - the effort of trying to parallel canon or at least not demolish it was giving me headaches. It's a lot easier, as a writer, to write post-0otP stories since no one really knows what JKR will do. Plus, if you age the characters up enough, they can shag without your feeling too guilty about it ;)
